Holy Cross, Saint Michael Two unbeaten in flag action

Holy Cross and Saint Michael Two both went 2-0 after the opening week of play in the Niagara Catholic Athletic Association’s girls flag football league.
In the first week of action: Saint Michael Team Two defeated Denis Morris 38-32; Saint Michael beat Lakeshore Catholic 19-7; Saint Francis beat Blessed Trinity 45-6; Holy Cross edged Saint Paul 34-33; Holy Cross defeated Saint Michael 20-13; Denis Morris dumped Lakeshore Catholic 28-12; Saint Michael Team Two beat Blessed Trinity 55-24; and, Saint Paul edged Saint Francis 46-45.

Mustangs aiming high in 2024

The Saint Michael Mustangs senior football team is ready to build on last year’s success.
In 2023, the squad made it to the Niagara Catholic Athletic Association championship game before falling to the defending champion Notre Dame Fighting Irish and also got a taste of the next level by competing in the Southern Ontario Secondary Schools Association semifinals against the Westmount Wildcats.
“It was a fantastic experience to get to that level and see that type of competition and we had never done that before. We had been in the finals but had never gone to SOSSA,” Saint Michael head coach Brian Carter said.
