It was a memorable moment Friday night when Dryden Allen was selected in the second round, 32nd overall by the Flint Firebirds in the 2023 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection.
“It has been a dream of mine for a while now. A lot of kids from a very young age dream of being drafted into the OHL,” the Southern Tier Admirals defenceman said. “Once it finally happens, it takes a bit to sink in, to be honest. I feel it still hasn’t hit me yet but I am really excited and really honoured to be drafted by such an amazing organization.”

A career between the pipes may very well have seemed predestined for Dryden Allen, given that he’s the son of a goaltender and is named after the Montreal Canadiens netminding great.
Instead, the 15-year-old defenceman for the Southern Tier Admirals in the OMHA's South-Central AAA Hockey League is carving out a different path.
“My dad obviously put me in hockey and inspired me to be a hockey player,” Allen said of his father, Andrew, a pro scout for the Seattle Kraken. “But I like to inspire my game after Adam Fox.”

Dryden Allen is pumped for the upcoming Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection.
“I’m really looking forward to the draft,” the 15-year-old defenceman for the Southern Tier Admirals said. “It’s something I’ve worked a long time for and seeing what will come from it.
“It’s an exciting time.”
The 2023 draft begins Friday, April 21 with rounds 1-3 starting at 7 p.m. and continuing Saturday, April 22 beginning at 9 a.m. with rounds 4-15.
